① Sengataki · Forest Stream & Grand Waterfall
📍 Trailhead: Parking area 1.5 km north of the Sezon Museum of Modern Art
The round trip takes about 1 hour. The trail follows a forest stream the entire way, ending at an impressive and powerful waterfall. It is an easy walk that is not tiring, yet very rewarding.
② Mount Ko-Asama · A Compact and Scenic Hiking Experience
📍 Trailhead: Opposite Mine no ChayaIt takes about 1 hour one way to reach the summit.
The slope is gentle, with just the right level of physical activity. From the top, you can enjoy excellent views of Mount Asama.
③ Wild Bird Forest · A World of Birds and Woodland
📍 Trailhead: Outer side of Kera Pond
Birdsong accompanies you throughout the walk, creating a rich forest atmosphere. Please note that this trail leads into a residential villa area where taxis are difficult to arrange, so returning the same way is recommended.
④ Hanareyama · Karuizawa’s “Graduation Mountain” for Children
📍Round trip: approximately 3–4 hours.
Many children in Karuizawa hike this mountain as part of school activities when they grow up. There are also hidden caves along the way, adding a sense of small adventure. Trail access is from Hanareyama-dori or near the Konoe Fumimaro Villa.

📍 About 4 km uphill from Ginza Street
A popular option is to combine a one-way bus ride with a one-way hike, saving energy while still enjoying nature. From the observation deck, you can take in a sweeping view of Karuizawa.

📍 Trailhead: Near Kose Onsen
Only a few minutes’ walk brings you directly to the waterfall. The sound of rushing water and cool mist surround you—especially refreshing in summer.
